Locally owned Child’s Play Toys is adding another store.

Owner Nancy Savage leased the former Kidtopia space at The Bridges at 57th in south Sioux Falls.

“I just always had wanted to be in this area, and when the opportunity presented itself, it was just perfect,” she said. “We’re so excited. We’re going to have clothing here, we’re going to have books, and, of course, we’re going to have lots of toys and candy.”

The plan is to open April 1 at The Bridges at 57th Street and Western Avenue.

Child’s Play began in downtown Sioux Falls in 2009 and expanded to Lake Lorraine in 2019.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Downtown is open until 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The business is hiring for all locations, Savage said.

“We just want to find a few more good people for weekends over at both locations,” she said. “We’ve already had some really good interest, and we have a lot of people who have worked for us for years. It’s just a fun environment. It’s toys. I think the biggest benefit is we have a lot of parents who work at the store, and we offer 40 percent off everything. And it’s a fun part-time job for teachers. They have to buy a lot of things for their own classroom, and they love having the discount as well.”
