Casey’s General Stores plans to open a new store on the east side of Sioux Falls.

The Iowa-based gas station and convenience store bought land at 6510 E. Arrowhead Parkway, on the northwest corner of 10th Street and Arrowhead. The site is halfway between Veterans Parkway and Six Mile Road.

“This is a high-traffic corridor into Sioux Falls from the east, making this site a high priority for Casey’s,” said Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., who represents Casey’s General Stores.

“Arrowhead Parkway is really underserved by convenience stores,” Tysdal said. “There are only two C-stores between Six Mile Road and Interstate 229.”

The site is at the main entrance into the Willow’s Edge development, a 180-acre mixed-use project being developed by Signature Cos.

“Clint (Ackerman) and his team were fantastic – again – to work with,” Tysdal added. This is the second site Casey’s purchased from Signature this year. In January, the company bought a site in Signature’s Stadium Crossing development at 69th Street and Cliff Avenue.

Having close proximity to neighborhoods makes convenience stores an amenity to nearby residents, Tysdal added.

“Coffee, doughnuts, pizza, sandwiches, pop – this will become a daily stop for many east-siders.”

The new Casey’s location also will include a car wash, a first for Casey’s in Sioux Falls.

This will be Casey’s 12th location in the city. A timeline for construction hasn’t been announced.
