Casey’s plans to open another new store on the expanding east side.

The Iowa-based gas station and convenience store purchased land at 1200 N. Finnigan Ave., located on the southwest corner of Veterans Parkway and Madison Street.

The site is near Lewis Drug and Sanford Clinic, both of which opened earlier this year.

“Veterans Parkway continues to be a draw for commercial users of all types,” said Ryan Tysdal, vice president of commercial real estate for Van Buskirk Cos., who represents Casey’s.

“In the years ahead, Veterans is anticipated to see over 55,000 vehicles per day.”

The Casey’s site is at the north entrance to the Foss Fields development, a 350-acre mixed-use project being developed by C-Lemme Cos. Foss Fields spans from Menards north to Madison Street.

“We’ve been busy this year with grading, utility work and street improvements on the north end of Foss Fields,” said Joel Ingle of C-Lemme. “Despite the delays we experienced from constant rain earlier this summer, we’re happy to get this portion of Foss Fields ready for its buyers.”

In addition to Casey’s, a 20-acre tract of apartment land at Foss Fields was purchased this summer.

“We have a lot of exciting things in the works at Foss Fields,” Tysdal added. “We expect to have additional announcements in the months ahead.”

This is the second east-side location purchased by Casey’s in recent months. Casey’s opened earlier this year at the intersection of Arrowhead Parkway and 10th Street in the Willows Edge development.

“Casey’s has recognized the monumental expansion happening on the east side of Sioux Falls, and they want to be a part of that growth,” Tysdal said.

Having close proximity to neighborhoods makes Casey’s an amenity to nearby residents, he added. “Coffee, doughnuts, pizza, sandwiches, pop – this will become a daily stop for many east-siders.”

The new Casey’s location also will include a car wash.

This will be Casey’s 13th Sioux Falls location. A time line for construction hasn’t been announced.
