CarSwap to expand to east side

By Jodi Schwan

CarSwap soon will have an east-side location to complement the two stores it opened earlier this year on the west side of Sioux Falls.

The consignment car business has leased the former Payless ShoeSource location at 3701 E. 10th St.

“We’ll give it a refresh with new paint, repair the parking lot and sidewalks, and really bring a higher-quality image to the location with late-model, low-mileage, higher-end cars,” partner Kevin Tupy said.

The business started seven months ago with two locations on West 12th Street.

“It’s going really well. It’s going better than I thought it would,” Tupy said.

He estimates he will be able to park 80 cars on the east-side lot, which is double each of the 12th Street lots. The CarSwap niche is looking like it will be in used luxury vehicles, he said.

“Our goal is to continue to expand regionally and probably eventually put one big flagship location in Sioux Falls but keep the satellite ones,” he said.

The east-side location is scheduled to open in December.
