Canfield Business Interiors announces leadership change

Sept. 6, 2023

Longtime Canfield Business Interiors president Larry Canfield has been succeeded by his son Aaron.

Aaron Canfield’s 17-year career has included experience in industries such as “commercial real estate industry, franchise operations and family-owned business models,” the company said in a statement. “This has increased his knowledge of organizational best practices. … Aaron has cultivated a unique set of skills that ensures a bright future at Canfield Business Interiors.”

Canfield has a degree from the University of South Dakota and has served on various boards and stakeholder committees throughout his career.

Larry Canfield started the business in 1976 as Scan Am Furniture, with business partner and friend Verlyn Larson. The concept was a blend of Scandinavian and American furniture along with contract business.

It grew thanks in part to the call center industry as Citibank came into the market and businesses embraced open floor plans filled with furniture systems.

“We are grateful to Larry Canfield for his continuous hard work and commitment to making space better as he transitions into his new role as founder of Canfield Business Interiors,” the company said.

“This role will include consulting, developing and maintaining relationships, and lending a hand as needed. For the past 46 years, Larry has displayed his passion for helping people and enriching lives and will continue to do so.”
