Longtime advertising leader Kim Burma has been named the 2025 South Dakota Sales & Marketing Executive of the Year from SME Sioux Falls.

Burma, a senior advertising agency account executive at Midco, is being honored as someone who exemplifies leadership, innovation and dedication in the field of sales and marketing.

“Kim Burma is a force in the Sioux Falls business community, with decades of professional excellence, a client-first mindset and deep commitment to giving back. She leads by example, and we are thrilled to honor her with this award,” SME president Sheila Hoff said.

The Executive of the Year award has been presented annually since 1987 to an individual in the South Dakota business community who has demonstrated industry excellence, leadership legacy and community commitment.

The award will be presented at the Sioux Falls Leadership Summit on Sept. 9 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

Burma has more than three decades of experience in the Sioux Falls media and marketing landscape.

“Known for her integrity and collaborative spirit, she has served as a trusted adviser to clients across the region throughout her career,” according to SME.

Originally from the farming town of Anthon, Iowa, Burma joined Midco following its acquisition of KTWB Radio. She also has held leadership and volunteer roles with organizations such as the Sioux Empire United Way, Children’s Home Society, Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, Startup Sioux Falls, Sioux Falls Sports Authority, Badlands National Park Conservancy, Sioux Falls Cares and the USD Howling Pack.

She recently chaired the 2024 Sioux Empire United Way Campaign.

Now in its fifth year, the 2025 Sioux Falls Leadership Summit will feature keynote speaker Liz Bohannon, founder of Sseko Designs and author of Beginner’s Pluck. Bohannon is known nationally for her work in conscious consumerism, social entrepreneurship and empowering individuals to lead with purpose.
