Brandon restaurant from The Attic owners opening next week

Sept. 7, 2022

Brandon’s newest restaurant The Gruff, Plates + Pours is putting on its finishing touches prior to opening week.

“It’s been a long time coming so we’re excited to get rolling,” co-owner and culinary director Nick Mangene said.

Once construction wraps up, The Gruff plans to begin operating Tuesday through Sunday starting the week of Sept. 13, opening at 11 a.m. daily.

This is the third restaurant for The Attic Company, owners of two The Attic Bar & Grill locations in Sioux Falls, and it’s a concept in the works for a long time.

The Gruff is next to Arby’s in a retail center along the 500 block of Splitrock Boulevard.

“We are excited to expand outside of Sioux Falls, to finally be a part of the Brandon community and provide another location for people to come out and enjoy good food and drinks,” Mangene said.

The concept will feature a selection of new fresh, made-from-scratch menu items mixed in with their classics which include burgers, sandwiches, pasta, pork and chicken entrees, flatbreads, salads and appetizers.

“We stuck with The Attic’s vibe through the mood, the lighting and designs on the walls,” Mangene said.

The Gruff will allow patrons of all ages on both sides of the space including its bar area which will feature high-top seating.

If you’re wondering about the name, ‘The Gruff’ was inspired by the Norwegian fairytale ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’.

“It symbolizes bridges to new horizons,” Mangene explained. “The logo features our original The Attic donkey with the goat on its back to represent this new adventure.”

The restaurant is hiring. To learn more, reach out to The Attic team or click here.
