Bender Companies will double office with renovation

July 26, 2021

Bender Cos. is starting a major expansion and renovation of its office, which includes temporarily moving out.

The organization, which includes Bender Commercial Real Estate Services, Bender Midwest Properties and Bender Residential, is gutting its building at 305 W. 57th St. Bender moved from downtown shortly before the pandemic started.

“We’re going to double it in size and modernize the entire building, so hopefully it’ll all look like one brand-new building,” president Reggie Kuipers said.

The finished building will be about 10,000 square feet, with the brokerage on the second floor and property management on the first.

The office used to be Visser Architects.

“It’s just a really cool nature setting out the back, which is incredibly difficult to find in the middle of town, and when it was purchased, it came with excess ground, which afforded us the ability to expand,” Kuipers said.

The design will be an industrial, modern look with a lot of metal on the outside, he added.

“It’ll be a cool look when it’s done, for sure. We view this as a 20-year home for us,” he said.

The renovation is expected to be done in the first quarter of 2022. In the meantime, Bender Cos. will work from a temporary location at 5116 S. Solberg Ave. that used to be an Avera office.
