Avera Health is planning for the future with a recent land purchase in Tea.

The health system purchased an acreage at 27091 469th Ave., just off the northwest corner of Heritage Parkway and 271st Street, also known as  Gateway Boulevard.

It’s 1 mile north of where Avera Medical Group Tea is located.

“This location would offer convenient access and high visibility to patients and visitors, given it is at the intersection of two main roads and near the interstate. As the nearby 85th Street interchange opens up, so too will future development in and around this area,” said Ryan Vanden Bosch, assistant vice president of primary care.

The “tremendous growth” Tea has experienced recently, along with growth projections, drove Avera’s interest in expanding its presence, he said.

“The Tea community has supported our existing clinic for over two decades – and we’ve continued to grow. In fact, we are currently in the process of adding additional space to our existing clinic as well that will allow for the addition of another physician.”

Avera hasn’t set a timeline to build in Tea.

It will be based on “a number of factors, including speed of population growth in the area, strategic initiatives and priorities,” Vanden Bosch said.
