Augustana recognized for sustainability, scholarships

The Princeton Review has ranked Augustana University among the best in the Midwest and named the university to its list of “green colleges” for overall commitment to sustainability.

Augustana ranked among the 158 institutions recognized in the Midwest, an award based on feedback from students about their school’s academics, administration, student body and themselves.

The Princeton Review’s “green” ranking is based on feedback from students related to “whether students have a quality of life on campus that is both healthy and sustainable, how well the school prepares students for employment in an increasingly green economy and how environmentally responsible the school’s policies are.”

On another list, Augustana ranked among the top 10 universities nationwide for the number and size of scholarships it awards to students.

The ranking, titled “The 46 Best Colleges for Getting Big Merit Scholarships,” is published by Time.com and facilitated by Money. It lists high-value schools where students “have a good chance of landing significant scholarship aid.”

Augustana is ranked No. 7 on the list, based on criteria that evaluates graduation rates, the percentage of merit scholarships awarded and the size of scholarships in comparison to total cost of attendance.

At Augustana:

  • 86 percent of students graduate within four years.
  • The job placement rate for recent grads is 98 percent, with a mean starting salary of $43,471.
  • 100 percent of students receive academic, talent or need-based financial assistance, with the average overall financial aid award — scholarships, grants, work-study and loans — coming in at $26,592 for students who will graduate in 2020.
