Furniture Mart USA has opened a new Ashley furniture store in the Empire East retail center.

It backfilled the former Bed Bath & Beyond space and is the third Ashley in Sioux Falls for Furniture Mart USA, which first opened an Ashley store at Dawley Farm Village and added one at its north-side corporate headquarters in late 2022.

Companywide, there are three dozen Ashley stores within Furniture Mart, including Maple Grove, Minnesota, also in a former Bed Bath & Beyond store, which opened in March.

“We are thrilled with how our newest store in Sioux Falls has turned out; the team did an incredible job transforming it,” CEO Cory Price said.

The new location “is second to none, with easy access for out-of-towners and locals alike,” he continued.

“It offers a wide range of styles and the newest trends carried by Ashley. The store sets a new benchmark for us in terms of space, variety, and customer experience, and we are excited for it to become a beloved part of the Sioux Falls community.”

The opening represents a full-circle moment for Furniture Mart founder Bill Hinks, who had a store called New Town Furniture at Empire East in the 1980s when the property opened as New Town Mall.

“The central location of our new store is a major highlight,” Price said, calling it a “prime spot” that “ensures that our customers can conveniently visit us whether they’re making a special trip from a neighboring city or stopping by during their daily commute. The vibrant surroundings and accessibility make it an ideal location, enhancing the overall shopping experience and allowing us to serve a broader community effectively.”

Overall, the year so far has shown positive trends, with a steady flow of customers, Price said.

“People are still actively shopping and updating their current homes, instead of planning a move,” he said. “Customers are increasingly seeking high-quality, durable products, which Ashley offers at a great value. Overall, people are approaching their purchases with a focus on value and versatility, looking for pieces that enhance their existing living spaces.”

A Memorial Day sale is on now through Monday and will be followed by a grand opening sale through June 17. In addition to special pricing, the store is giving away $10,000 in prizes.

“It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the community and making this opening truly special,” Price said.

Hours for the new Ashley store are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
