Anthropologie has opened at The Empire Mall.

The store is the retailer’s first in South Dakota and is located in the JCPenney wing in part of the former Gap space.

Anthropologie describes itself as a lifestyle brand specializing in women’s apparel, accessories, intimates, beauty products, home furniture and decor.

The apparel ranges from formal wear and minimalist to athleisure and boho chic.

A “pantry” section in the store includes a range of kitchen accessories.

The home decor merchandise includes a large selection of candles, pillows and rugs.

And the store is decorated for the holidays, with merchandise such as ornaments and decor.

To celebrate today’s grand opening, the store is hosting a free coffee bar and offering bouquets to shoppers.

A watercolor artist also will be creating paintings for shoppers.

The store in Sioux Falls was uniquely designed to emphasize the guest experience, district brand leader Melissa Leske said in announcing the opening.

Anthropologie has experienced Sioux Falls customers traveling as far as Kansas City, Winnipeg and the Twin Cities to shop there, Leske said.

“We are thrilled to join the community in Sioux Falls and bring our store experience to so many who travel outside of their state to enjoy the Anthropologie experience,” she said.

For The Empire Mall, Anthropologie fills a large portion of the former Gap space, which has been vacant since the retailer closed in the early days of the pandemic.

It’s located next to Coach and across from new retailers Offline by Aerie, which is opening soon, and BoxLunch.
