Plum’s Cooking named ‘Gourmet Insider’ all-star retailer

July 2, 2019

Plum’s Cooking Co. has been named one of three all-star retailers by Gourmet Insider.

“These women are three of the most forward-thinkers in the housewares industry. Each of them blend creative ideas with sharp business sense, which has led to each of their successes,” said Emily Cappiello, executive managing editor of the magazine. “These retailers are poised to drive the industry to the next level, and for this, we are happy to name each of them 2019 All-Stars.”

The magazine profiled owner Penny Klinedinst, who took over the business at 8th & Railroad Center from founder Caroline Peterson in 2016.

The feature includes how the store remodeled and expanded to add more cooking classes and notes the two women still talk frequently about the business.

Klinedinst offered advice to other entrepreneurs in the piece.

“Just do it. It is easy to be fearful and people live very protected, but if you have the passion, the rest will follow. It is the hard work and soul behind really, really wanting something that will make you successful,” she said.
