Credit union opens microbranch
April 29, 2026
Bluestone Federal Credit Union has opened a west-side location known as a microbranch.
It’s at 6311 W. 41st St., across from Roosevelt High School and Kuehn Park.
The branch offers three interactive teller machines, or ITMs, which can complete most withdrawals and deposits, allowing staff to focus on member services and more-complex banking needs, the credit union said in a statement.
“We are proud to offer our members a tech-forward space that provides speed, convenience and smarter banking, all within a compact size. It is a reflection on our commitment to evolve with our members’ needs,” said Alayna Johnson, president of Bluestone Federal Credit Union.
“Our goal with this microbranch is simple: to make everyday banking easier, more accessible and more connected to the neighborhoods we call home.”
The branch is supported by an assistant branch manager and a member-service representative, who will help members with services the ITMs cannot such as cashier’s checks and money orders, as well as help navigate the ITMs. A member-service officer, who supports lending needs, also is available on-site.
Two of the ITMs are inside the branch, and one is outside. Instead of a drive-up window, transactions are serviced by the outdoor ITM. If support is needed, a button will connect the member with a support person on the ITM’s screen.
“We listened to member feedback to help deliver a branch experience that will work well into the future while still giving them the friendly experience they expect from Bluestone,” Johnson said.
“We know our members value the relationship they have with our employees. Our staff know our members’ names; they understand their needs and work hard to help each member achieve their financial needs, whether it’s securing a loan with lower interest rates or setting up a money market to build their savings. Our team listens and supports.”
Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Bluestone Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1938 to provide financial services originally to employees of the city of Sioux Falls. The credit union today serves nearly 12,000 members in 43 counties across South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska.
There are three locations in Sioux Falls in addition to the new microbranch.
