New southeast Sioux Falls venue aims to serve small-scale events

March 26, 2026

A new events venue has entered the Sioux Falls market.

It wasn’t part of the long-range picture, but Cayla Rush and her husband, Brian, said they are glad all the pieces fell into place the way they have.

Scavigo is at 4101 S. Southeastern Ave. at the intersection with 49th Street.

Rush, who owns Precious Angels Learning Center, bought the building where she leased space for her child care center when the previous owner was looking to sell in 2017.

The purchase came with an adjacent building that was formerly an office space.

“We had this empty building for a couple years as we wondered what we should do with it,” Rush said.

Rush connected with a family friend, an event planner, who suggested that they turn it into a space for small events.

“There’s nothing on this side of town, so we thought that would be something to complement the center nicely with a majority of events on the weekends and easy, accessible parking,” she said.

With help from an interior designer friend, they gutted the building to open it up and gave it a face-lift to create a more modern feel and take advantage of the natural light.

The name of the venue incorporates the couple’s three girls: 13-year-old Scarlet, 11-year-old Violet and 8-year-old Shikago.

Scavigo is available for showers, rehearsal dinners, graduation parties, corporate events or any small gatherings and can accommodate up to 80 guests seated or 90 standing. Tables and chairs are provided, while hosts can bring in their own food or catering.

“It doesn’t take a ton of our time but also thoughtfully utilizes what had just been an empty space,” Rush said.

Rush launched a website and social media pages for Scavigo in late 2025 and said events have started picking up.

“People are booking into the fall already,” she said. “We’ve been so happy with it.”
