Award-winning international photographer opens small-town gallery, home decor boutique

Sept. 10, 2025

There’s a new business in Lennox offering a mix of photography, art, home decor and gifts — with a global story behind it.

Alycia Estwick, a self-taught photographer, always had a love for cameras, which has progressed over the years. When her day-to-day life was heavily affected by the pandemic and wildfires in California, she knew it was time for a change.

“I started driving across the country in 2021 and ended up here in South Dakota,” Estwick said.

“I was going to go to Sioux Falls, but I was used to the mountains and country. Plus, I love the small-town feel, and I love the people here, so it was a nice fit.”

She recently started showing photography all over the world in various galleries, including the Paris Art Expo in 2024. Right now, her work can be seen in Switzerland, Germany, the United Arab Emirates and Grenada.

One of her photos won a contest for an exhibition in Spain.

In talking with her husband, whom she met after moving to South Dakota, they decided it was time for her to open her own gallery in Lennox.

In August, she held the grand opening for the Estwick Gallery at 228 N. Main St.

“It’s a great way to share my art, my creative outlet,” she said. “My stuff is pretty unique and unlike what you’ll find in other stores around the area.”

The space includes a home decor section where Estwick sells a lot of the furniture she refurbishes and refinishes herself in addition to other art. She also burns designs into bison skulls.

“It’s a very eclectic, unique shop, but it features all my different aspects of fine art from photography to mixed media and furniture,” she said.

Visitors will find a rotating gallery of other artists too. Right now, it features a mix of work by Kendall Smith, Trista Ziccarelli and Melissa Hyde through October.

Estwick said she’s passionate about the industry and is thrilled to share part of her world with her community.

“Art is becoming pushed aside a lot in society, and a lot of schools don’t teach the classes anymore because they’re downsizing,” Estwick explained.

“Bringing art into communities like this reminds people that there are other outlets, especially for our younger generations. People coming into a gallery and checking out different styles really can affect them in different ways, and I think it’s something all communities should have.”

Even though she specializes in landscape photography, Estwick will capture families, business headshots and branding photography by request.

Estwick Gallery is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with plans to grow those hours while she balances a full-time job.

Learn more about the gallery by visiting Estwick’s website or social media.
