Small businesses: Optimism reaches 11-year high
Jan. 26, 2017
Small businesses haven’t felt this strong going into a new year since just before the Great Recession, according to a survey by Wells Fargo and Gallup.
The overall index was 107, a combination of a 42 for how they rate their present situation and a 65 for how they view expectations.
The rating for present situations was down a bit from the third and fourth quarters in 2017, but the future rating was the highest it has been since 2005.
The overall number hasn’t been this strong since 2007.
The future rating was particularly strong as far as revenue, cash flow and capital spending plans.
The January survey also asked business owners about the current presidential administration and its impact on their businesses, with about half giving the administration a grade of an “A” or “B” for its performance on issues important to their business over the past year.
