It has never been easier for all adults in the Sioux Falls area to become more active.

Active Generations is introducing new programs and activities along with new membership options – some for as little as $10 per month – to ensure easy access to its growing menu of offerings.

“Right now is an exciting time to join Active Generations because we’ve expanded both our facilities and our programming to better serve the diverse interests of older adults in our community,” member services director Chenise Weber said.

With two fully equipped locations, a wide range of clubs, fitness opportunities and lifelong learning classes, there’s truly something for everyone.

Active Generations has grown to offer more than 50 clubs, two full gyms, fitness classes, lifelong learning programs and engaging recreational and social opportunities. Its two locations — at 2300 W. 46th St. and 5500 E. Active Generations Place — serve more than 3,000 members.

“Whether you’re looking to stay physically active, meet new people or explore a new hobby, now is a great time to get involved,” Weber said.

“We’ve been intentional about growing in ways that meet the needs of both current and future members.”

There’s one big misconception too: That you have to be retired or a certain age to join Active Generations.

“In reality, anyone over the age of 18 is welcome — especially those looking for community, wellness and enrichment,” Weber said.

“We also have a special waiver that allows our members to bring teen grandkids to come in and play pickleball, which many grandparents love taking advantage of.”

When you do check out Active Generations, you’ll find modern fitness equipment, more interest-based clubs and flexible membership levels.

Plus, a day pass is only $10.

“We’re making it easier than ever to stay connected, engaged and healthy,” Weber said.

“We’re also updating our digital tools and internal systems to improve communication and streamline the member experience. These changes ensure we can support a growing, dynamic membership base without sacrificing the personal touch our community values.”

Here’s a closer look at the options:

Think gym or fitness classes are only for highly active people? That’s not true either.

“We offer a wide range of options for all ability levels, including low-impact and beginner-friendly classes,” Weber said.

“The gyms and wellness programs are also highly valued, especially by those taking charge of their health. Many members also appreciate the variety of creative classes that keep them learning and engaged.”

Most importantly: You’ll find a new community when you join Active Generations.

“Our members consistently rave about the friendships they build here,” Weber said.

“Whether it’s through pickleball, card clubs, group fitness classes or special events, the social connection is what makes Active Generations unique.”

And speaking of pickleball – it’s attracting a growing number of members in their 20s, 30s and 40s who are joining Active Generations to gain access to its private indoor courts and outdoor courts.

“It’s become a hub for competition, recreation and lifelong connection,” Weber said.

What else is new?

  • Golf simulator: Active Generations is introducing a new professional-grade golf simulator at the main campus, allowing members to enjoy a full virtual golf experience year-round.
  • Library renovation: Thanks to the generous support of the Elmen Foundation, the main campus library recently underwent a full renovation, breathing new life into an incredible space that had long been underutilized. It’s now a warm, inviting hub for readers, book clubs and puzzle fanatics.

  • Salon renovation: The main campus salon has been beautifully updated and now offers haircuts, waxing, pedicures and manicures — all available to members and guests.

  • Field trips and cross-generational events: Recent outings like a Minnesota Twins baseball game have been a big hit with members, and plans are in the works for the next seasonal trip.

Want to learn more?

The best first step is to stop by either Active Generations location for a tour.

“We love showing new faces around, answering questions and helping people figure out which membership type fits their lifestyle best,” Weber said.

You also can browse online to explore club offerings, fitness schedules and upcoming events.

Trying out a day pass is another great way to get a feel for the community before committing to a membership.

Plus, stop by an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the main campus, 2300 W. 46th St.
