The longtime CEO of SCHEELS will share his journey of business and faith at the upcoming God as CEO event in Sioux Falls.
Steve M. Scheel will speak at the event from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. May 22 at Central Church, 3102 W. Ralph Rogers Road.
“God as CEO exists to encourage, equip and activate people to transform work for the glory of God,” said Joe Evenson, president of Kingdom Capital Fund.
“It’s a movement for managers, business owners and those who seek to be a Christian influence in their workplace. Kingdom Capital Fund oversees the God as CEO movement in the Sioux Falls area.”
At SCHEELS, Steve Scheel nurtured a company culture focused on developing leaders, creating a strong team environment and giving back to the community.
“His goal was to make sure customers and more than 12,000 associates felt valued, inspiring them to see SCHEELS as the best in the country,” Evenson said. “Steve’s care for others and passion for service is rooted in his faith. He enjoys sharing leadership lessons with others in business and remains active as a board member for several organizations.”
Under the tenure of Scheel, who now is retired after a 35-year career that began as a part-time shoe stocker, the retailer grew from a small hardware and sporting goods retailer into one of the largest sporting goods stores in the nation with 34 stores in 16 states.
