This week’s Up-and-Comer is Inna Silchuk, assistant vice president and treasury management officer at American Bank & Trust.

Name: Inna Silchuk

Age: 30

Hometown: Sioux Falls

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

I was proudly born and raised in Sioux Falls.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

The strong sense of community and the wealth of opportunities available here. The lifestyle is both comfortable and dynamic, offering a great balance between professional growth and personal well-being. My parents established a successful life here after immigrating, and I aspire to follow in their footsteps by pursuing similar goals.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

Getting the opportunity to work with different businesses in different ways. I enjoy working closely with clients to understand their payment needs and developing tailored solutions that enhance their financial efficiency, whether it’s solving complex challenges or helping them thrive from improved processes. Being able to make a tangible impact on a business’ success is always rewarding.

How did you get connected to your industry?

I knew I wanted to work in finance after studying business management, finance and accounting at Southeast Tech. I began my career in the finance industry in 2017, working in a hybrid role between cash management and correspondent banking where I worked closely with businesses and trust companies establishing their digital banking payment needs. From then on, my desire and passion for this industry evolved.

Describe your workplace in three words.

Motivated, intuitive, supportive.

What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?

I was raised second-generation and can speak Ukrainian fluently.

What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?

One of my favorite ways to give back has been through my involvement with Junior Achievement and teaching the JA curriculum to elementary-aged students the last few years. I find it fulfilling to support programs that empower the next generation and contribute to the overall growth and development of Sioux Falls. Engaging in these classroom activities allows me to make a positive difference in the lives of others and strengthen the community I care about.

What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?

Trader Joe’s.

If you had $1 million to start a business, what kind of business would it be?

This is a tough one. Without overthinking it, I’d say some sort of consulting or real estate investing.
