What brought you to Sioux Falls?
While graduating from USD, I was working for Vermillion FCU during the merger transition with Voyage, which made it an easy decision to move to Sioux Falls. As a kid, traveling to Sioux Falls for sports was always exciting since there were so many more activities to do compared to my hometown.
What keeps you in Sioux Falls?
Sioux Falls offers the benefit of living in a growing city while still having that feel of a small community. I’ve made so many friends throughout college that are now living in Sioux Falls that also make it easy to stay here.
What’s your favorite thing about your job?
Building long-term relationships with members. It’s rewarding when they know you by name; it feels like you’ve earned their trust and made a financial difference. Also, the culture of the colleagues at Voyage makes my job even more enjoyable.
How did you get connected to your industry?
I’ve been a member of a credit union since I was born. I’ve worked in the credit union industry since high school in different departments and have loved every second of it!
Describe your workplace in three words.
Community. Cooperative. Progressive.
What is something someone might be surprised to learn about you?
I worked at Wendy’s in high school, and it’s still my favorite fast-food place to eat in Sioux Falls.
What’s your favorite way to give back to your community?
Voyage is a great example of giving back. Each month, we have a volunteer event to involve ourselves in the community. A couple events this year included helping at Feeding South Dakota, Veterans Community Project and Camp Leif Ericson.
What’s one business you’d like to see in Sioux Falls that isn’t here now?
Shake Shack.
If you had $1 million to start a business, what kind of business would it be?
Building an indoor sports bar that includes a mini golf course/pickleball courts.
