Restaurant opens inside former Tea Steak House

June 21, 2024

Food is being served once again inside the former Tea Steak House.

Titans Tavern opened recently in the building at 215 S. Main Ave. in Tea.

Josh, Seth and Dylan North are leasing the 11,000-square-foot space and also have brought back the Tea Event Center in one of the buildings, while using the other for a mix of a bar and restaurant as well as a future liquor store.

“We’re excited we finally got food going,” Seth North said. “It’s definitely a Midwest-type menu.”

For now, the menu includes several appetizers, burgers, tacos and other bar fare.

The plan is to add more entrees, including steak and chicken, and a kids menu in the next couple of weeks. In August, the owners plan to start lunch service on weekends, and the hope is to add weekend breakfast beginning in September.

“And then, we’ll look at trickling into the weekdays,” North said. “We’ll try Fridays, and if Fridays go well, we’ll add Thursday and so on.”

For now, hours are 3 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

The building also has a casino and bar area open, and the hope is for state approval to move forward with a liquor store soon.

Within the space, the new owners remodeled a restroom, and “other than that, it was a lot of rearranging,” North said. “A lot of cleaning, and we definitely had to use several dumpsters to get things cleaned up.”

The plan is to make more aesthetic improvements to the events center, although it’s ready to use now with a new sound system, stage and bar area.

“We’re getting people in, and when they’re coming in, they’re saying, ‘We’re so excited for this place.’ A lot of people are waiting to see what the consistency is and what we’re bringing,” North said.

The space most recently was the Latino nightclub El Effecto, and before that, it was a location for Boss’ Pizzeria & Sports Bar, which replaced the Tea Steak House.
