Stensland Family Farms is closing its east-side retail store.

The final day is Sunday for the shop that sells the northwest Iowa farm’s ice cream and other products. It opened almost exactly five years ago on May 28, 2019.

“We’re a little family-run business hustling with the help of our clan to keep things rolling smoothly, and we’ve been shaking some things up in 2024,” Stensland Family Farms posted on social media. “The family has agreed it’s time to carve out more quality time with our own kin, which is pretty awesome.”

Earlier this year, Stensland decided not to reopen its west-side retail store after closing for winter. It had been in a shared location with Flyboy Donuts at 41st Street and Sertoma Avenue since June 2020.

The focus now is on the original location at 3101 W. 41st St., which opened in 2016. The family also plans to boost its wholesale partners and expand online and fundraising sales. Stensland also operates Falls Overlook Cafe at Falls Park under a contract with the city.

Final hours at the east-side location at 4712 E. 41st St. are 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Specials include $2 single ice cream dips and 10 percent off other products and merchandise.
