Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

C&B Operations is leasing the top two floors of the nine-story office building that’s under construction in The Steel District, adjacent to Falls Park West. The family-owned business, which had been based in the Twin Cities until last year, includes a large John Deere dealership network. Until the building is ready, the company and other Burwell family operations are leasing office space in the CNA Surety Building downtown.

JJ’s Axes & Ales at 3016 W. 57th St. has expanded into an adjacent space and added pool, darts, shuffleboard and video lottery machines. There’s also a new business office and a conference room that JJ’s is using for internal training sessions and meetings as well as renting out.

Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery will be closed March 21 through April 13 for a “rearranging” project. Changes to the downtown restaurant include moving the ordering counter closer to the door, removing walls to open up the event space and doubling the number of bathrooms. Offices in the basement will be turned into a meeting room for up to 16 people. A second phase of the project later this year will enlarge the kitchen.

LSC Communications is closing an envelopment manufacturing operation once known as Quality Park Products in Beresford. An estimated 53 employees will be affected, according to notice provided to the state of South Dakota. Layoffs are expected to start April 22 and finish by July 21. LSC is a commercial printing company based in Chicago. It acquired Quality Park in 2017.

B&G Milkyway locations are starting to reopen for the season. All Sioux Falls sites except for West 12th Street are serving ice cream and food. The shops in Brandon and Tea open Wednesday, and the one in Harrisburg will open March 16. The 12th Street B&G will begin serving in late March or early April. The owners of the franchise are working with someone who’s interested in adding a location in Hartford. They’re also planning to move the location on 69th near Louise to a site farther south on Louise because of traffic congestion.

Andy’s Affiliated Foods owner Bob Jelsma is retiring and closing the neighborhood grocery store. His father opened the store at 18th and Cleveland 72 years ago. A going-out-of-business sale will run through March and possibly into the first week of April.

Less than a year after starting a food truck, Murphy Lundie is adding a restaurant. Murph’s Burgers & Fries will be at 5312 E. Arrowhead Parkway, the former location of Grand Junction Grilled Subs. The grand opening is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Lundie will keep operating the food truck.

An east-side convenience store has been transformed into a Mediterranean grocery. Hayder Hayyawi bought the Shop ‘N Cart two years ago and began making the changes recently. He renamed the business at 4301 E. 12th St. Neighborhood Market. It continues to sell Sinclair fuel. Hayyawi is adding a kitchen and plans to open a restaurant in the coming weeks that will serve Middle East dishes such as falafel, kebab, shawarma and dolma.
