2022 official Sioux Falls visitor guide debuts on racks, online

Jan. 18, 2022

This paid piece is sponsored by Experience Sioux Falls, formerly the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Each year, Experience Sioux Falls comes out with a new visitor guide to promote travel to the city and guide visitors to attractions, restaurants and shopping when they are here. Then, just like that, the COVID-19 pandemic halted the annual publication, and for two years the 2020-21 guide had to suffice.

The national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that businesses stop the distribution of magazines or publications that multiple people could touch and potentially spread the coronavirus. There also was a strain on travel-related businesses to pay for advertising when they were struggling to survive.

The good news is the fact that the visitor guide was going on two years old didn’t deter engagement or travel to Sioux Falls. In 2021, there were nearly 60,000 visitor guides requested or viewed on ExperienceSiouxFalls.com, representing a 20 percent increase over 2019 and a 71 percent increase over 2020.

This week, the new visitor guide will be distributed throughout the city and can be viewed online. Experience Sioux Falls expects to go through 150,000 printed guides throughout the year. The guide gets requested from every state, and the top three metros that view it online are Minneapolis-St. Paul, Chicago and Omaha.

Businesses also can request visitor guides, both for public distribution and to give to visiting clients or colleagues. Visit the Experience Sioux Falls contact page for that, and reach out through the same form if your business would be interested in advertising in next year’s guide.
