Do you have family traveling to Sioux Falls for Thanksgiving weekend? If so, you may be looking for activities to fill out the weekend after enjoying  turkey, stuffing and pie, of course. There is so much happening in Sioux Falls, including some annual favorites. Get started with these 10 activity ideas.

Winter Wonderland

Get a jump-start on the holiday season with the return of Winter Wonderland!

Falls Park will be lit with hundreds of thousands of holiday lights and decorations each night from Nov. 18 through Jan. 8, 2023, so there is plenty of time to experience it.

Parade of Lights, Christmas tree lighting ceremony

The 30th annual Parade of Lights is one you certainly won’t want to miss. Join many others in this holiday tradition of seeing the fun holiday floats on Phillips Avenue downtown on Friday, Nov. 25. Before the parade, be sure to stop at the corner of 11th Street and Main Avenue outside the Washington Pavilion for its annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. There will be free cookies and hot cocoa while supplies last.

Shop local

Support local businesses Saturday, Nov. 26, for Small Business Saturday as you work on your holiday shopping list.

Whether you’re shopping for a loved one or even just treating yourself, Sioux Falls is filled with great local shops throughout.

SculptureWalk

Take the family on an afternoon walking tour of SculptureWalk. With 69 sculptures on the 2022 rotation, there are so many fun sculptures that both adults and children will enjoy.

Seek out this year’s People’s Choice Award winner Elk in front of the Carpenter Building at 221 S. Phillips Ave.

Great Shots

Enjoy an outing at Great Shots, where both experienced golfers and first-timers will have fun. There are several different games to play, which will help level the playing field for all players. Don’t let the cold weather scare you away because each bay in this three-story facility has heat lamps above.

Butterfly House & Aquarium

Immerse yourself with the beautiful butterflies at the Butterfly House & Aquarium. This tranquil environment provides the perfect conditions for butterflies to thrive. You even might be lucky enough to have one land on you!

Afterward, learn all about marine life and see some great exhibits on the aquarium side of the facility.

Thunder Road

There’s something for everyone at Thunder Road, a one-stop shop for entertainment. The outdoor attractions may be closed for the winter season, but the fun is just starting to heat up inside! Try out HyperBowling, laser tag, ax-throwing, arcade games, a 7D theater and more.

Movies at the State Theatre

Catch a movie at the beautifully restored State Theatre. Years of diligent work have returned the movie theater to its former glory with eye-catching details everywhere you look. The very comfortable reclining chairs will elevate your entire movie experience.

Stampede hockey games

Watch the action on the ice at a Stampede hockey game on Friday, Nov. 25, when they take on Tri-City Storm and Saturday, Nov. 26, against the Lincoln Stars. Stampede games are great fun for people of all ages. Snap a photo with Stomp, the mascot!

Pentatonix

Pentatonix brings its A Christmas Spectacular tour to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Sunday, Nov. 27. This is a jaw-dropping magical performance that you won’t want to miss!

That’s just a preview of things to do during Thanksgiving weekend. Find more things to do and events on ExperienceSiouxFalls.com.
