Nebraska gastropub expanding to Sioux Falls

April 8, 2019

Tavern 180, a Nebraska-based restaurant and bar described as a modern, posh venue with a classy cocktail bar, is coming to Sioux Falls.

The bar and restaurant will open this summer in The Galleria at 69th Street and Western Avenue.

The restaurant’s unique concept, referred to by staff as a “180 from the typical,” consists of dishes such as Wagyu beef sliders, prime steaks and a signature Wagyu hanging beef tenderloin.

Happy hour’s offerings include Tavern Bubbles, a fruit-flavored cocktail that bubbles and smokes, along with classic twists on old favorites like the Sazerac, its take on the traditional Old Fashioned.

The restaurant was founded in Omaha by Brett Clure in 2016.

According to a statement, it focuses on “an exceptional dining experience with a mix of approachability, luxury ambiance and atmosphere.”

“We feel we’re a perfect complement to all the other exceptional surrounding businesses in The Galleria, and we can’t wait to serve Sioux Falls,” Clure said.

Along with the expansion, Sioux Falls-based investment firm Crescent Capital Holdings has taken an equity position in Tavern 180.

“We are incredibly delighted and honored to be a part of such a reputable restaurant with a highly talented and experienced management team,” Crescent Capital president Kevin Tupy said.

“Tavern 180 will be the crown jewel of the Prairie Hills neighborhood and add an even higher bar to the exceptional restaurants that dot the area.”

Tavern 180 also has locations in Lincoln, Neb., and Ankeny, Iowa.

“We’re excited to partner with Kevin and his team at Crescent. Their expertise in the retail sector will be an invaluable asset for future growth,” Clure said.

The gastropub will occupy about 3,000 square feet as one of five retail spaces on the first floor of The Galleria.

“It’s an ideal fit. The neighborhood is absolutely going to love Tavern 180, and it will draw guests from across Sioux Falls and beyond,” said Raquel Blount, vice president of commercial real estate at Lloyd Cos. who represents The Galleria.

“It’s stylish and modern but fun and comfortable, which is exactly like The Galleria itself.”

Other tenants include ART Vision, ARTisan Skin and Laser Center, and Goosmann Law Firm.

“We have been so happy with the leasing interest in The Galleria. The second floor is full, and we only have one 2,092-square-foot space left on the first,” Blount said. “We expect to announce additional tenants in the coming weeks.”
