Tool Depot is closing its stores in Sioux Falls and Iowa as the owner retires.

The store at 2715 E. 10th St. will close at the end of January, said Rachel Crawford of Tool Depot. The business sells power tools made by companies such as Milwaukee and DeWalt, and other construction-related merchandise.

Inventory is marked at 10 percent to 20 percent off, Crawford said.

The first Tool Depot store opened in 1997 in Sioux City. It added a location in Spencer, Iowa, and expanded to Sioux Falls in 2008.

Another part of the business, Industrial Tools & Machinery in Sioux City, will remain open until all the inventory is sold, Crawford said.

The Sioux Falls property is for sale.

“It’s a fantastic building with great visibility along 10th Street,” said Scott Blount of Lloyd Cos., the listing agent for the 18,300-square-foot building. “It has floor-to-ceiling windows facing north all along the building and two to three different egress points for quick access into the parking lot. It’s a really good piece of property right at the crossroads with 10th Street and Interstate 229.”
