OG Greens sets opening date

May 23, 2019

A new restaurant focused on healthy eating options opens Friday downtown.

Brothers Brandon and Quinton Manning are starting OG Greens in the first-floor marketplace of the Jones421 Building on Phillips Avenue north of Sixth Street.

“We’ve nailed down our starter menu,” Brandon Manning said. It features six signature bowls and a build-your-own bowl with a myriad of choices.

Gene & Company captures chef Quinton Manning during a photo shoot of the menu items.

Customers can pick a grain and/or salad base, up to four toppings such as cherry tomato, mushroom, asparagus and avocado, and a dressing. They can add additional toppings and protein for an extra charge.

Among the signature bowls are the King Eddy with steak, chicken, cabbage, scallion, carrot, black beans, brown rice and wild rice; the Steak Spicy Sioux with steak, brown rice, black beans, corn, tomato, asparagus and avocado; and the Tofu Cowgirl Vegan with tofu, wild rice, broccoli, mushroom, carrot, celery, radish and cucumber. The other bowls are the Salmon Queen Cobb, Chicken Caesar and Shrimp Tex Mex.

The meals “are clean fuels that repair your body,” and the ingredients will be locally sourced as much as possible, Manning said.

Beverages will include alkaline waters and agua fresca, with an eventual expansion into juice combinations.

The 630-square-foot space, which was designed by 4D Design + Consulting, features a complete view of the working kitchen. There’s a hidden nook near the windows with seating for five, and customers will be able to dine at common tables throughout the marketplace or on the patio.

Quinton Manning has over two decades of culinary experience and has been leading the creation of the menu. The brothers plan to grow into a breakfast menu and have several ideas for special dinners in the future.

For now, they’re starting with hours of 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
