New event venue Casetta opens for bookings

Jan. 6, 2023

The newest venue from the owners of event space Convolo is open and taking bookings for events.

Casetta is at 201 W. 37th St., west of Phillips Avenue. The name is Italian for “little house,” and the venue is designed to host small-scale social and corporate events.

It accommodates up to 50 seated or 65 standing.

Co-owners Amy Boes and Angela Merrit, who are sisters, opened Convolo downtown in 2021.

With Casetta, the owners said they focused on creating something “quaint with sleek design and modern finishes.” It features Cambria backsplash, glossy cabinetry, a tiled fireplace and white paneled ceilings.

The intention is “ditching the traditional banquet-style interior,” they added.

The meeting space is a conference room, available in February, on the south portion of the venue. It’s designed for off-site meetings or business gatherings, with a seated capacity of 12 people around a conference table. It can be rented separately or added onto space rentals for additional accommodation or catering prep space.

The main area of the venue features a seating lounge, wet bar, designated counter space and open area for gathering.

The building used to be occupied by home design firm Houndstooth House, which moved to a larger space next door.
