A new building under construction in south Sioux Falls is filling up with office tenants.

The 9,700-square-foot building on the northeast corner of 85th Street and Western Avenue is being developed by Van Buskirk Cos.

So far, space has been leased for a counseling office and an Edward Jones financial office.

“We’ve had really good demand for one-, two- and three-suite offices, so we’re leaving part unfinished to accommodate a bigger tenant and building out smaller spaces so they’re readily available,” Mike Van Buskirk said.

Tenants can start moving in next month, he said.

There’s room on the property for one more office building, which has proven to be the best fit for that corner, Van Buskirk added.

“It’s commercial zoning, but when you sit there and look at Walmart 1 mile to the east … and ultimately the other corners are going to build out commercial, and the interstate is there … we’ve had great success with office up and down that corridor, and it just didn’t feel like a high demand for commercial use.”
