Humane Society executive director to step down

Oct. 28, 2022

After nearly 15 years, Kori Baade is stepping down as executive director of the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

“It has been an honor and privilege to have served with such amazing staff, the many volunteers and board members during my time as executive director,” Baade said in a statement. “I have been a part of the ongoing growth, the many additions to program delivery, the improvement of health and well-being of the animals and the work that has made it possible to make lives better for animals in our care. “

Baade said she has been fortunate to support the shelter’s mission to provide “a safe haven and human voice for all animals in need” and thanked the Sioux Falls community and surrounding region for “caring about animals as much as they do and supporting the shelter’s work.”

“I will greatly miss all who I have met along the way — both fur kids and humans. As I move into a new chapter in my life, I will never forget the kindness of those who have helped along the way. Thank you for the journey.”

The board of directors is conducting a search for the new executive director.

Baade’s last day will be Nov. 23, when an open house recognizing her service will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, 3720 E. Benson Road.
