Great Shots to open with ‘wow’ factor

Dec. 5, 2019

One step inside and it quickly becomes clear: There’s nothing like Great Shots in Sioux Falls or anywhere around it.

“People walk into the building and, immediately, jaws drop,” general manager Jonathan Buckley said.

“It’s the beauty of the building and then the excitement of how much there is to do in the building. It’s that ‘wow.’ ”

At three stories and 54,000 square feet, the complex is designed to cater to everyone from executives to families.

There are 60 hitting bays, with multiple games to choose from, including several kid-friendly ones.

“Even during the winter, you’re able to hit thanks to the heaters,” Buckley said. “It’s exceeding expectations. It’s just fun.”

There also are multiple places to dine and socialize away from the golf.

The restaurant includes the state’s largest television display screen and a menu Buckley describes as an upscale spin on bar food.

“We have a lot of sharable foods, appetizers, and we have the healthy side with salads and sandwiches and wraps for the Sports Complex,” he said. “And we put a spin on burgers and different pastas. The menu is about 70 to 75 percent scratch, so our executive chef and corporate food and beverage team did a heck of a job putting it together.”

Appetizers include a chips and dip trio with salsa, guacamole and queso; blistered edamame, several varieties of chislic and wings, pretzel bites and Korean lettuce wraps.

There are five varieties of sliders, including chicken pesto parmesan, grilled portabella bahn mi and vegetarian naan.

Pastas include pad thai and braised beef tortellini.

A breakfast menu is served from 9  to 11 a.m. daily and from 9 p.m. to close Friday and Saturday. It includes a breakfast burrito, muffin melt, farmer’s benedict and two kinds of French toast.

Groups also can customize menus for events.

A third-floor Champions Club lounge includes bar seating, couches, a fireplace and outdoor dining area.

Great Shots has several options available for players. Here’s a look at the rates:

There’s a special being offered with 20 percent off six- and 12-month memberships through the grand opening weekend.

Doors open at 11 a.m. Friday. For the grand opening weekend, Great Shots will offer live music from Chris Hintz beginning at 4 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday. Santa will make an appearance from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, with cookies and cocoa.

“We’ll be giving away prizes throughout the day,” Buckley said. “There’s a lot of energy, the weather looks great, and there are a lot of things going on at the Sports Complex, so we’re just excited to add to everything that’s going on here.”

Regular hours for Great Shots will be 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
