Crunch Fitness sets opening date

Nov. 6, 2023

The largest Crunch Fitness in the nation will open later this month in Sioux Falls.

Opening day is Nov. 30 for the fitness center located in the former Gordmans building on the campus of The Empire Mall.

“We’ve had amazing, even astonishing response for the brand,” pre-sale manager Taylor Warrick said. “Our sister club in Fargo, they love it up there, and as soon as we announced the Sioux Falls location, there was a lot of interest in the community of Sioux Falls and the surrounding area.”

The 60,000-square-foot space includes cardio equipment, a large free-weight section, classes, multiple turf areas, hydromassage, HIITZone, boxing, UV tanning and a babysitting area.

“Construction is doing amazing,” Warrick said. “We’ve got all the equipment installed, the signage up, flooring, paint, everything is ready to go. We are holding on for inspections, and then we are rocking and rolling.”

The fitness center is designed for all experience levels, including “miles of cardio equipment,” 5- to 125-pound dumbbells, group fitness and full-service locker rooms, he added.

“We have a philosophy of no judgments, no limits here since 1989,” Warrick said. “We bring everything to the table, so we have something for all levels of fitness.”

A pre-sale for membership is offering special deals to the first 500 founding members.

Crunch Fitness also is still hiring for all positions.

The fitness center will open at 5 a.m. on Mondays and stay open continuously until 11 p.m. on Fridays and then reopen from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Crunch Fitness business model offers a range of memberships as well as day passes.

There are more than 400 locations nationwide, and this will be the first in South Dakota. The Sioux Falls franchise group owns roughly 10 percent of the brand’s total locations.
