Cornerstone Bank opens new location

Jan. 10, 2019

Cornerstone Bank has opened its new flagship Sioux Falls branch.

The two-story building is at the northwest corner of 69th Street and Louise Avenue.

The bank was located off Western Avenue south of 57th Street. It purchased the rights to the Sioux Falls market from First Interstate Bank in 2016.

Cornerstone is chartered in Fargo and has 10 locations in eight communities.

“When we looked for locations, we looked for access to I-229, we looked for a growing area, we looked for rooftops and accessibility,” market president Evan Ingebrigtson said. “This is a part of town that’s really exploding.”

The new, 18,000-square-foot building includes a large, open lobby. There’s still a little traditional teller space, but a focal point is a “technology island” where customers can plug in.

“The concept is to have the availability for customers to come in and test drive all the new electronic banking capabilities,” Ingebrigtson said.

There are about a dozen employees at the branch, which offers the full gamut of banking and lending services including commercial and mortgage.

Cornerstone is hiring a business banking team – a lender, assistant and analyst – a customer service representative and a financial adviser, who will work independently in the building.

There’s also available space upstairs that will be leased to other tenants. About 5,000 square feet is open and unfinished and can be divided.

“We think it’s a good fit for professional services – an accountant or attorney firm,” Ingebrigtson said. “We’d like to see someone we can collaborate with and do cross-referrals if possible.”

Lobby hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The drive-thru is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays.
