City’s first pickleball pub opens
Jan. 18, 2024
The city’s first pickleball pub is open.
The Remedy Pickleball Pub is in a converted warehouse next to the downtown brewery’s back patio at the 8th & Railroad Center.
It features three regulation-size courts on a professional surface, Remedy co-owner Matt Hastad said.
Players can reserve court times by the hour through the app Court Reserve after paying a one-time setup fee of $5, which includes processing a required liability waiver.
“It’s an all-inclusive app where you can split costs with your friends,” Hastad said. “If you’re a single player, you can find other players on the same ranking as you and invite them to play. It’s a great app, and we hope people get familiar with it.”
Remedy staff members will help guide people through the app’s features as needed, he said.
Players can bring their own paddles and balls or rent the pub’s equipment. They’ll check in at the taproom before heading to the courts.
To start, players can use the courts whenever the taproom is open. Those hours are noon to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and noon to midnight Friday and Saturday.
The Remedy Pickleball Pub is working out details for memberships, and “eventually, we’d like to be 24-hour access with a membership,” Hastad said.
For now, players will have to order beer and food in the taproom and take it over to the courts, which are a few steps out Remedy’s back door.
Eventually, Hastad envisions providing service so players can order food and drink at their table and have it brought to them. The plan also is to incorporate shuffleboard and other games, including bean bags.
“Once we get the bugs out of the system, we’ll be adding more and more features and things for people to enjoy.”
