Carpenter Bar preparing to open

By Jodi Schwan

The newest addition to Phillips Avenue is getting close to opening.

The Carpenter Bar is putting the finishing touches on its remodeled space in the Carpenter Building at 215 S. Phillips Ave.

The former Stogeez location has been completely remodeled. It incorporates marble from the historic building in the bar and tables, leather seating and distinctive fixtures.

“We’re thrilled with how the Carpenter Bar is coming together,” co-owner Anne Haber said. “We think guests are going to love the cozy, classic feel we’re delivering here.”

The bar will serve its first customers this weekend and fully ramp up operations next week.

The menu includes signature cocktails such as the Phillips Avenue screwdriver, with Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Cointreau, fresh-squeezed orange juice and an orange wheel; the Humming Bird, with St-Germain elderflower, prosecco, club soda and a lemon twist; and a seasonal rhubarb Victoria, with The Botanist gin, tonic, house rhubarb syrup and rhubarb sugar.

“We will vary the menu seasonally somewhat, focusing on fresh ingredients and classic tastes,” co-owner Brian White said.
