It’s clear from the moment you set foot on the Cherapa Place Plaza that there’s a lot happening here this season.
The downtown Sioux Falls destination is leaning into the season with new decor, fall menus, Halloween fun, movie nights, wellness events, shopping, dining experiences and community gatherings throughout October.
It’s a lot of fun to experience as a guest — but even more so when it’s right out your door.
“This is what makes Cherapa Place such a unique place to live,” Pendar Properties marketing manager Ashton Hiatt said.
“You can walk downstairs or across the plaza and find something happening: dinner, a workout, a movie night, a wellness appointment, shopping or a community event. It’s downtown living with an entire neighborhood built around you.”
Here’s a fall preview of what you’ll find here: the food, the fun and plenty of simple indulgences just for you.
Fun
Cherapa Place is embracing the Halloween season.
Throughout October, visitors can stop by the Cherapa Place Plaza to see it decorated for Halloween and take photos. Those who tag @cherapaplace in their photos will be entered for a chance to win a Halloween haul filled with goodies and gift cards to favorite businesses on campus.
The plaza also will host Pumpkin Carving at the Plaza from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 22. The first 50 pumpkins are free, carving kits will be provided, and spiked apple cider will be available. Stop by Combine from 4 to 7 p.m. for wine and whiskey.
Breadico is adding to the fall calendar with movie nights at 7 p.m. throughout the month. The lineup includes “Creature from the Black Lagoon” on Oct. 15, “Edward Scissorhands” on Oct. 29 and “Beetlejuice” on Oct. 30.
Breadico also will host swing dancing at 6 p.m. Oct. 16, trivia night at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 and gallery night at 6 p.m. Oct. 24.
Food
October is a great time to taste your way through Cherapa Place.
Several restaurants are part of this year’s Downtown Pork Showdown, an annual competition featuring pork-focused dishes at downtown restaurants.
At BlackFork Farms Tasting Room, the entry is The Heluka, featuring pork belly, caramelized apple and cabbage.
Nunzio’s is participating with Pork Bolognese Pappardelle, available at both lunch and dinner throughout the competition. The dish features pappardelle with Italian sausage bolognese and Parmigiano Reggiano.
Pomegranate Market is serving the Pork & Melon Bistro Stack, made with Beeler’s Ham, bacon, prosciutto, melon chutney, chevre goat cheese and arugula on Breadsmith white bread.
And Rivage Oak Kitchen is participating with a braised pork collar entry with toasted almond and confit, tomato orzo, stracciatella cheese, lemon pesto cream sauce, micro chives, fresh cucumber and a crispy corn fritter.
The fall food options go beyond the Pork Showdown.
Nunzio’s has launched updated lunch and dinner menus, with additional dinner items coming soon, including more gluten-free options. For lunch, the restaurant is offering a $15 trio with soup, a half-sandwich and side salad, with selections changing weekly.
BlackFork Farms has introduced a fall happy hour from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, featuring cocktails and pours. With a new TV behind the bar, the tasting room also is a cozy place to catch favorite sports throughout fall and winter.
Rivage Oak Kitchen is hosting an in-house Carrot Cake Showdown this fall. Try two carrot cakes for $15 and then cast your vote.
HK is making its signature dining experiences more approachable this season with new fall pricing. The five-course Chef’s Menu is $89 per person, while the nine-course #TreatYourselfMenu is $150 per person. Optional beverage pairings are available for both.
For a more immersive evening, HK offers the Chef’s Table at $200 per person, featuring a 10-course tasting menu, a front-row view of the kitchen, select courses presented by the chefs and a behind-the-scenes element.
HK also will host Riesling Through Germany on Oct. 27, featuring a German-inspired multicourse menu paired with Riesling expressions. Additional special wine experiences are hosted throughout the season.
For you
Fall also brings plenty of ways to reset, refresh and shop without leaving Cherapa Place.
SISU Fit will host Flow Into Fall at 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at Breadico, offering a seasonal fitness and wellness event in the neighborhood.
At iv&co., seasonal favorites include the Immunity & Defense IV, Replenish & Hydrate IV and Jet-Lag Is Optional, geared toward colder weather, travel and the busy holiday season.
Guests also can stop in to shop without booking a treatment. The curated retail area features health, wellness, skin care, specialty foods and gift items, including brands such as ZBiotics, Tru Niagen, Nordic Naturals Professional, BABOR and MitoPure.
Massages also are available in 30- and 60-minute sessions in D.Core Japanese massage chairs, either during an infusion or as a stand-alone visit.
At Combine, fall arrivals are in for the season, along with a curated selection of gifts as the holidays approach.
For those living at Cherapa Place, the mix of food, fun and personal favorites becomes part of daily life.
“You can plan a night out without getting in the car, meet friends for dinner, take part in a seasonal event, shop for a gift or make wellness part of your routine,” Hiatt said. “That kind of convenience and connection is exactly what people are looking for in downtown living.”
