New restaurant at Cherapa Place draws on S.D-inspired menu
Sept. 22, 2025
The newest addition to the downtown dining scene features pheasant, bison and other local meats and fish.
Rivage Oak Kitchen opened today inside the original Cherapa Place office building — the Apex — in downtown Sioux Falls.
“It’s beautiful in here,” said Devon Giesen, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Ashley. “Staffing is looking good, both front and back of the house, and the menu is complete.”
The space has been remodeled extensively, said Anne Haber of Pendar Properties, developer of Cherapa Place.
“There’s been a significant amount of restoration,” she said. “Every appliance in the kitchen is new.”
The menu is South Dakota-inspired, with options for lunch and dinner, plus happy hour.
The lunch menu is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“We’re pulling in a lot of what South Dakota has to offer, using chokecherries in both the bar and food menu. We have pheasant, venison, bison tenderloin and ground bison, local cuts for steak and local fish,” Giesen said. “There also are lighter salads and small-plate options, and stuff people around this area are used to.”
The dinner menu, which also is served all day Saturday, features a variety of small plates, including pheasant bruschetta and lamb chislic, while the entrees include choices like three steak dishes, a bison burger, a Wagyu burger, leg of pheasant and duck a’la orange.

A happy hour menu with drink specials and a selection of appetizers will be served from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before closing those nights.
The patio furniture is here, and “I’m hoping for some patio time,” Giesen said. “We have all the equipment, so it’s sitting out there now, and I’d like to get a little in yet.”
The restaurant is still hiring for several positions. Stop in to pick up an application, or email devon@duchessinvestmentsllc.com.
The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Closing time is 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Options for breakfast and Sunday hours are still being determined.
Rivage Oak Kitchen joins other new food and beverage additions at Cherapa Place. Breadico Cafe opened recently inside The Bancorp Building, and Chef Bryan Moscatello announced he’s moving his restaurant from the Harvester Building to the first floor of The Dakota Flats building. The rebranded and expanded concept will have a designated space for Nunzio’s Food Hall, his chef-driven concept HK and a new taproom in partnership with BlackFork Farms. It’s expected to open later this fall.
