Patio-lovers: Turks & Caicos Cabana Grille opens theirs this week

Ken Bashore estimates at least 100 guests ask about sitting on the patio at Turks & Caicos Cabana Grille every day.

“They’re all very excited about the prospect,” the CEO of Vanguard Hospitality said.

The restaurant opened in early May, after Vanguard transformed the former Bracco in a matter of months.

The patio has taken a bit longer, but the wait is over.

“It’s literally painful to tell them it’s not open,” chief operating officer Tim Meagher said. “Their anticipation is contagious. They’re probably some of the most excited guests about the patio that I’ve ever witnessed.”

The long-awaited patio, which seats more than 100 at the main dining area, two lounges and bar, opened this week.

Guests will discover it has been redone to complement the changes inside the restaurant. It’s lighter, more airy, with lots of plants and new lighting, fans and furniture.

There also are two shuffleboard courts, providing an option for entertainment in keeping with the resort-like feel the Vanguard team has created.

“I think shuffleboard is a very lighthearted game,” Meagher said. “Enjoy a couple cocktails and have a little fun doing it.”

The full menu will be offered, with a happy hour menu coming later this week when the bar opens outside.

“We’re pretty excited to share it with you all,” Bashore said.
