Omaha firm chosen to help develop USD Discovery District

From staff reports

The University of South Dakota Discovery District has selected an Omaha firm as a development partner to help  find tenants for its first research building.

Tetrad Property Group LLC is a real estate development company with a focus on developing research parks. It’s the master developer in partnership with the University of Nebraska for the Nebraska Innovation Campus, which is preparing to start on its fourth building.

Work started recently on roads and infrastructure for the USD Discovery District, an 80-acre corporate and academic research park in northwest Sioux Falls. The initial project is a 25,000-square-foot building that’s expected to be completed in 2018.

The USD Discovery District has already identified two potential tenants for its first building, and additional companies have provided specifications for biopharmaceutical manufacturing and animal research space.

“We will now work with TPG and potential tenants to firm up specifications, select an architect, construction partner and finalize the scope of this first project,” said Rich Naser Jr., president of the research park. “With each milestone, the vision of an innovation community to live, work and play is taking shape.”

The USD Discovery District is a public-private partnership effort that includes USD, the city of Sioux Falls, the South Dakota Board of Regents and the business community through Forward Sioux Falls.
