Augustana University is looking for a vice president for strategic communications and marketing. This position reports directly to the president. As a member of the president’s cabinet, the vice president collaborates with other members of the senior leadership team and campus community to carry out the mission and values of the university. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, who was inaugurated last year, there is much excitement and momentum on which to build, making it an ideal time to join an incredibly talented team. With particular focus on positioning the university for growth and increased visibility in the region and nationally, the new vice president will join an institution that is evaluating long-term goals and laying the groundwork for the next strategic plan.

The vice president will advise and partner with members of the senior leadership team, faculty and staff to achieve institutional goals through effective communication and marketing strategies. The successful candidate is responsible for developing and implementing a communication and marketing strategy that aligns with the university’s strategic plan, develops and empowers personnel and adheres to a budget. The candidate must be a strategic and creative thinker who has a collaborative, proactive style and the ability to provide transformational leadership. The successful candidate also will present a background of progressively increased responsibility in a comprehensive and sophisticated communications program, including supervision of experienced staff and a thorough working knowledge of communications planning and metrics-driven outcomes.
