An indoor triathlon next month will build on a popular event started by GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness and is a good example of how the business is offering more ways to help people be active.

The event at EmBe on March 3 is great for beginners through veterans, said Nick Ovenden, director of fitness.

It starts off with 10 minutes of swimming, moves to 15 minutes on a Matrix spin bike and finishes with 15 minutes running on a treadmill or curve with five minutes between events. The distance of each discipline will be recorded and put into a formula to weight them evenly.

“This is literally perfect for all levels, as it’s a very stable environment and you won’t feel like you’re being passed by everyone because it’s timed,” Ovenden said.

The event starts at 8 a.m., and spectators are invited.

GreatLIFE plans other events throughout the year, Ovenden said.

“Each year, we aim to listen to our GreatLIFE community and find new and exciting ways to keep people motivated to keep going,” he said. “Fitness events are a phenomenal way for our community to help set goals as they work toward that particular event.”
