Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery is now selling its cupcakes in a jar downtown.

The bakery is in a retail center at Lake Lorraine, but franchisee Dani Nordhagen always was drawn to downtown. When managers at the Phillips Avenue Diner invited her to sell products there, she jumped at the chance.

She’s selling cupcakes in a jar, which are a good fit because “everything needs to be fresh,” she said. “In the jars, they’re sealed up and will stay fresh a few days.”

The cupcake shop and diner also plan to work together in the warmer weather.

“We’ll take our cart down there and sell cupcakes and ice cream outside,” Nordhagen said. “I’m excited to work with them. They’ve got a lot of fun ideas.”

She also plans to add gluten-free cupcakes in a jar and is shipping her cupcakes in a jar.
