Restoration event offers help with jewelry repair, repurposing

July 11, 2018

This paid piece is sponsored by Dawley Farm Village.

Does your jewelry need repairing? Or have you been wondering how to turn a family heirloom into a piece for future generations?

An event Saturday at Kay Jewelers at Dawley Farm Village is for you.

The daylong restoration event runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers 10 percent off all repair work.

Customers can bring in pieces for inspection, and staff will take it from there.

“The whole inspection process doesn’t take too long, depending on how many pieces people bring. We can also determine on some pieces if the stones are real on the spot,” store manager Laura Kluckman said.

Customers should consider making an appointment, she added, “so we can give them the attention they deserve, hear their story and determine their needs.”

The Kay Jewelers team also is experienced in helping families repurpose heirloom pieces they might not want to wear in their current form.

“Sometimes we take the stone and make it into a pendant or divide up the stones and make many rings from the original one,” Kluckman said.

“Sometimes during the consultation, we’ll start drawing something up to show them later. People have been repurposing heirlooms for many years. It’s just becoming more popular with them designing their own.”

Kay Jewelers is located in a retail center next to Buffalo Wild Wings at Dawley Farm Village.
