Premier business marketing event to bring in national experts

A lineup of nationally known experts in marketing technology, social media and digital strategy is coming to Sioux Falls for the first time Sept. 20, thanks to a partnership between two South Dakota businesses.

Sioux Falls-based KeyMedia Solutions partnered with Deadwood’s tdg to organize the Concept ONE Expo.

“We noticed that some local digital marketing conferences were a little lackluster,” said Korena Keys, CEO of KeyMedia. “Oftentimes, they turned into daylong sales pitches. We wanted an event that we actually wanted to attend ourselves, something that would be valuable for our own teams. We knew we could do that in our backyard.”

The organizers felt South Dakotans deserved to hear from the same kind of thought leaders and experts that speak at large urban events, said Dustin Floyd, president of tdg.

“We decided to create an event that would bring in recognized experts from across the country to share, educate and engage with local and regional businesses. We want each attendee to leave with at least one piece that they will be equipped to implement in their business the very next day.”

The event is not intended to promote the organizers’ businesses, “so we intentionally do not have our staff as scheduled speakers, even though they are qualified and capable,” Keys said.

The event is deliberately kept small and intimate so that speakers can engage attendees throughout the day with individual conversations and advice, she added.

CEOs will gain a better understanding of what’s new and changing in digital marketing, learn to bridge the gap between their traditional and digital knowledge and be able to ask questions of their marketing teams, as well as set goals and expectations. Marketing professionals will learn about the latest trends and techniques in digital marketing from national and local authorities on the subject.

The first Concept ONE Expo was staged in October 2017 in Rapid City, and the event drew positive and encouraging feedback from attendees, Keys said.

They appreciated the ‘no sales pitch’ approach and delivery of information in a way that was relatable. Many shared the ideas they planned to take back to the office and implement. A few expressed concerns on ‘where to begin’ and ‘information overload,’ so to address those we have focused much of the content into verticals: social media and marketing automation.”

A panel discussion was added so attendees can ask questions, and keynote speakers will attend a networking social following the event.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn City Centre.
