Popular new event among successful workforce strategies

July 9, 2018

This is a paid piece sponsored by the Sioux Falls Development Foundation.

Jennifer Tuttle has served as the workforce development manager for the Sioux Falls Development Foundation since March 2017 and is helping initiate several efforts related to workforce development. We caught up with her on the progress being made and a preview of a new event coming next month.

What is new in workforce development for 2018?

Our challenge for 2018 has been to explore ways to meet the goals of the Forward Sioux Falls plan of work in the most efficient and effective ways possible. Those goals include communicating with target populations, strengthening our educational connections, recruiting regional talent and creating an online portal for workforce opportunities and resources. We’re addressing all of those goals — and sharing the stories that can energize our regional talent pool — through WIN: Workforce Information Now, our monthly online workforce magazine.

How is WIN affecting regional workforce efforts so far?

The real strength of WIN has been the range of stories and information delivered with the power of online graphics and video. By presenting company profiles, innovative workforce development strategies and regional stories, we’re connecting with businesses who want new ideas to grow their talent pool, communities that are looking for partnership opportunities with their schools and resource providers and people who want to expand their career potential. Each month, WIN incorporates features on workforce development successes, making the monthly online magazine a source of information and inspiration.

The WIN in Workforce Summit is coming up Aug. 23. Should people be registering now to participate?

Yes! The interest in the WIN in Workforce Summit has been fantastic, but space is limited. We’re recommending that interested company owners, community leaders and business professionals click here to reserve a place at the event, which will be held at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. We will be closing registration later this summer, so registering early is a great idea.

What will the WIN in Workforce Summit bring to the regional workforce picture?

The summit gives us the opportunity to focus on what’s happening in our regional workforce strategies and re-energize our efforts. By providing inspiring and motivating speakers and workshops that will bring great ideas and brainstorming techniques to the table, we’ll give summit participants a fresh look at our talent-attraction initiative. We’re putting together a regional workforce team that is active, flexible and creative. It’s an important part of our strategy to keep that regional team informed, inspired and connected. The WIN in Workforce Summit promises to do all those things in a dynamic format. We’re excited about its potential!
