Pheasant Fest draws big opening-day crowd

Feb. 16, 2018

With attendance expected to reach 27,000 or more, the Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic has taken over the Sioux Falls Convention Center complex.

Festivities kicked off with a parade of bird dogs Friday morning. The event runs through Sunday. Tickets are $10 at the door or $5 in advance at PheasantsForever.org.

The show runs until 8 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Sioux Falls is the smallest market where Pheasants Forever has held its annual event, but robust ticket sales point to one of its strongest conventions yet.

Here’s a look at the event from photojournalist Jay Pickthorn.
