Emily Sievers has joined Adwerks as the “pioneer of the new frontier.” Sievers spent the past 14 years working at Augustana University.

 

ACLU of South Dakota

Andrew Malone has joined the American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota as staff attorney. After graduating from the University of Alabama School of Law, Malone served as a clerk for two years for U.S. Magistrate Judge Joan G. Margolis in the U.S. District Court of Connecticut.

AIA South Dakota

The American Institute of Architects South Dakota will present four honors at its annual convention.

The late Steve Metli will be recognized posthumously as the Champion of Architecture for individuals. Metli led the planning department for the city of Sioux Falls from 1974 until he retired in 2005.

Gage Brothers will receive the Champion of Architecture for organizations. The company was started by members of the Gage family in 1915.

Paul Boerboom, who retired this year from his position as a principal, senior architect and design discipline co-leader at TSP Inc., will be presented with the AIA South Dakota Legacy Award.

Allison Dvorak, an architect at TSP Inc., will receive the AIA South Dakota Young Architect Award.

Arete Wealth Management

For the second year in a row, Arete Wealth Management has been featured in InvestmentNews’ Top Independent Broker-Dealer 2018 rankings. Most notable was its No. 3 ranking among 130 firms for the biggest percentage gains in 2017 revenue. It also was ranked in the top 10 for alternative investment revenue. In the category for firms with fewer than 250 representatives, Arete ranked No. 2 for alternative investment revenue, No. 5 for pre-tax earnings and No. 7 for overall revenue. The Sioux Falls office is managed by Dennis Thurman, who specializes in alternative and private equity investments.

Jason Schoolmeester has joined the staff at LifeScape as vice president of human resources. He oversees workforce management for LifeScape & Rehabilitation Medical Supply operations in Sioux Falls, Sioux City and Rapid City. Schoolmeester, a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, and has led HR teams for 17 years in manufacturing and health care and with government contractors.

Mud Mile Communications has received the NACMA Gold Award and Best of Video Award for its 2017 football intro video produced for Augustana University from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators.

Paulsen has promoted Katie Hayward to associate creative director. Hayward has been with the ag marekting agency since 2014.

StarMark Cabinetry

Gov. Dennis Daugaard and the South Dakota Safety Council have selected StarMark Cabinetry’s Sioux Falls manufacturing facility to receive the Meritorious Achievement Award in honor of outstanding safety performance. In June, the Sioux Falls facility surpassed 3 million hours without a lost-time incident.
