New series of pop-up art shows starts this spring

A new series of pop-up arts shows at 8th & Railroad Center is looking for more vendors.

Rogue Antics Pop Up Artisan Festival will hold six events in the parking lot coinciding with the farmers market there.

There is space for 25 artists to sell their work, although some spots already have been claimed.

“I have multiple people signed up so far, from artists to a candle maker to someone who focuses on home decor,” organizer Tony Hewitt said. “We’re seeking multiple types of vendors to keep a good variety of local Sioux Falls artists and makers, and trying to make sure there is something for everyone who comes.”

The first event is April 22. Future shows are scheduled monthly through the summer.

The plan also is to add food and beverage options. A maximum of 15 spots will be reserved for all six events to encourage variety.

“The whole idea of this was to have a consistent way for people to showcase their work,” Hewitt said. “I’m hoping it will encourage artists and makers to consistently produce, knowing that there are consistent shows.”
